<p style="text-align: center;">HE Wenhua, CHEN Jingwen, ZHANG&nbsp; Yixiao&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align: center;">(Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine School of acupuncture and massage)</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Abstract:</strong> the treatment of herpes zoster in TCM has great advantages , which highlights the advantages and characteristics of the traditional Chinese medicine. The author reviews the&nbsp; literature for nearly 10 years proved:&nbsp; the&nbsp; treatment&nbsp; of&nbsp; herpes&nbsp; zoster&nbsp; with&nbsp; acupuncture&nbsp; has&nbsp; the&nbsp; advantage&nbsp; of&nbsp; regulation&nbsp; qi&nbsp; and&nbsp; blood, expelling&nbsp; of&nbsp; toxin&nbsp; and&nbsp; purging&nbsp; heat&nbsp; and&nbsp; removing&nbsp; pain.&nbsp; Acupuncture&nbsp; in&nbsp; relieving&nbsp; pain&nbsp; and&nbsp; reducing postherpetic neuralgia were significantly better than the pure western medicine treatment, and the cost&nbsp; of acupuncture is cheaper, without obvious adverse reactions, therefore it is easy to be accepted by patients.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key words:</strong> Herpes zoster, Acupuncture, Treatment, Review</p>
